Airplanes

An airplane can mean many things to a lot of people or it could simply be nothing more than a means of transportation. Every day as I see airplanes glide across the sky, heading somewhere or coming from somewhere. Airplanes mean freedom and opportunity to me, every time I see one flying above, I take a second to watch it dance with the clouds until I can see it no more.

I remember the story of a seven-year-old boy who was visiting an airport for the first time on a school field trip. It was a good day for the kids as they were been shown around the airport terminal. The field trip ended with a tour around the inside of a plane. The boy and the other kids actually thought they were going to fly a plane that day. They also did not realize that it was a decommissioned plane in an old airport.

That experience planted a seed of hope in boy's heart. It was the desire the desire to travel the world. The next time that boy set a foot on a plane was seventeen years later. This time he was traveling to Canada to study. And that boy is me. I think of my story every time I see an airplane and I think of the experiences of many other international students like myself. I think of how best to human their experience of studying in Canada.
